Cefalexin is used to treat urinary tract infections, respiratory tract
infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. It is also sometimes used
to treat acne.
Cephalexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections
of the upper respiratory tract, the middle ear, the bones, the skin, and the
reproductive and urinary systems. Cephalexin (cefalexin) works by
interfering with the bacteria's cell wall formation. This weakens the cell
wall, causing it to rupture, and kills the bacteria.
As cephalexin is only effective against certain types of bacterial infection
your doctor may perform tests to identify the organisms causing the
infection before beginning treatment .
